Calling all hackers, Microsoft friends, and security researchers!
It may be time to make some quick cash before Christmas.
Microsoft will now pay up to $250,000 for severe Hyper-V vulnerabilities, and security bugs in Microsoft Edge or Windows 10 preview builds will fetch up to $15,000.
This is more than double when compared to the $100,000 it was paying previously for Windows 8.1 bugs.
The Microsoft Bounty Programs helps Microsoft harness the collective intelligence and capabilities of security researchers to help protect their customers in exchange for direct payments for reporting certain types of vulnerabilities and exploitation techniques.
A Microsoft spokesperson in a blog post cited “security is always changing and we prioritize different types of vulnerabilities at different points in time” and that “Microsoft strongly believes in the value of the bug bounties and trust that it serves to enhance our security capabilities” as the reason behind the increase.
